Are you our unicorn?
The perfect position for the perfect associate at a perfect specialty practice
doesn’t exi…oh, wait.
You: a veterinarian with experience in canine manual therapy, acupuncture, and
rehabilitation therapy, who loves the challenge of returning limping dogs back to comfort
and performance. Certifications in these modalities is ideal, boarded status would be a
bonus!
The practice: A (deliberately) small and busy evidence-based veterinary sports
medicine specialty practice located in Squamish BC, Canada. Our focus is on lameness
diagnosis & treatment and chronic pain management for a diverse caseload of family
pets, doddering geriatrics, and competition or working dogs. On a typical appointment
day, we might see Ms. Brown’s beloved couch potato at 9 am, followed by an avalanche
rescue dog or World Agility champion at 10.
We offer radiographic and ultrasound MSK imaging, regenerative medicine (BMAC,
PRP, ADSC), and basic orthopedic surgical procedures (TPLO etc.), as well as
rehabilitation therapy.
Us: We are a 1.5 veterinarian, 3 RVT, and 1 assistant team. Our primary veterinarian
(and practice owner – David Lane) is an ACVSMR. Our 0.5 veterinarian is certified in
manual therapy, acupuncture, and rehab, with her caseload focused on geriatric care.
Our technicians and assistant are allowed to utilize all of their exceptional skills and
knowledge. We all share a love for dark humour, fresh baked cookies, and helping
animals feel better. Our new associate must share at least two of these three values,
and the cookies one is negotiable.
Our Culture:
We work hard, but we retain a very healthy work-life balance. This starts with utilizing
Fear Free practices with all of our clients and in hospital patients. We also treat each
other as equal human beings, and use our grownup conflict resolutions skills when
needed. We don’t take emergency calls. We have an AMAZING clientele, with zero
tolerance of clients who are rude to any of the staff. No exceptions! In addition to stat
holidays, we close down for a week every few months, close for two weeks in the
summer, and take an extended break over Christmas/NYE. Why? Because life is short
and outdoor recreating is fun.
The community:
The practice is located in beautiful Squamish, BC, the outdoor recreation capital of
Canada (https://www.exploresquamish.com/). Located between world class skiing in
Whistler to the north, and Vancouver to the south, Squamish is a thriving small town
with more outdoor amenities than any one person can tackle in their lifetime. Skiing,
mountain biking, kite boarding, rock climbing, golfing, hiking, mountaineering,
wilderness dog walks, ultra-marathons/triathlons, paragliding... the list goes on and on.
The position:
We recognize that we are searching for a unicorn, and for the right applicant, there is
room to sculpt the job description to match their interests. An ability to perform manual
therapy and acupuncture with success is a must, and beyond that, we are open to talk.
