ANXIOUS HORSE?
LOVE YOUR HORSE
BUT NOT THEIR BEHAVIOUR?
ANXIOUS HORSES
Having an anxious horse is a common reason for people to contact an equine behaviourist. While fear occurs in the presence of a perceived threat, anxiety is an apprehensive state of anticipation about future threats. A horse may be anxious during routine handling or management, or while being ridden. Horses may also develop strong fears (phobias) about specific things, such as needles or farriers.
When a horse feels anxious or fearful they can be difficult to safely handle. Anxiety or fear can also decrease a horse's quality of a life - impacting the bond the horse has with their owner, and affecting performance and learning.
Lauren can help you understand the roots of your horse's anxiety or fear. She can design an effective retraining program to resolve the issue - utilizing techniques both you and your horse can feel good about.
