HORSE BEHAVIOUR PROBLEMS?

LAUREN CAN HELP

HORSE BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATIONS

HELP FOR HORSE BEHAVIOUR PROBLEMS

IN-PERSON CONSULTATIONS

An initial consultation will give you immediate answers about your horse’s behaviour. At the consultation, Lauren carries out an in-depth evaluation of your horse, and factors that may be contributing to the problem. She will discuss her findings with you and what would be recommended to resolve or manage the issue.

While some behaviour problems can be resolved with one visit, others may need follow-up sessions. This depends, in part, on the scope or severity of the horse’s problem, and how long it has been occurring. Follow-up sessions include easy-to-use, personalized training plans that usually take about 20 minutes a day to implement.  Should you need help, support is available by email or text between appointments.

Fees: Initial consultations $275.00. Follow-up sessions $100.00/hr. Additional travel expenses may apply. Please see our COVID-19 guidelines for in-person consults here

REMOTE CONSULTATIONS

As it can be difficult to find qualified help nearby when your horse has a behaviour problem, Lauren also provides remote consultations. Thanks to technological advances, distance is now no longer a barrier to getting help for your horse - wherever you are.

If you are out of Lauren's travel area, contact her for a no-obligation chat to determine if the remote consultation format is appropriate for you and your horse.

Fees: Initial consultations $275.00. Follow-up sessions $100.00/hr.

HORSE BEHAVIOUR TRIAGE HOTLINE

The Covid-19 crisis is creating numerous concerns for horse owners, and accessing help for horse behaviour problems should not be one of them.

The Horse Behaviour Triage Hotline is a new, affordable way for owners to get 'first aid' help when they need it most. Lauren can provide a brief assessment of your horse's problem, answer your questions about your horse's behaviour, and provide general advice tailored to help you see a reduction in the frequency or intensity of unwanted behaviours. Please note, due to the restricted format of the Horse Behaviour Triage Hotline, it is unlikely that Lauren can provide you with enough management and retraining information to permanently resolve long-standing, dangerous, or complex behaviour problems.

  • How much is a triage appointment and what payment options are available?
Calls are $50.00 CDN, and payments are due 24 hours prior to your appointment time, by etransfer or PayPal.
  • What times are available for appointments?
Appointments are available between 10 am and 3 pm PST.
  • What is included in the fee?
The fee includes talking with Lauren about your horse, for up to 30 minutes. After the call, Lauren will send you a message listing the key points of your discussion, including links to recommended resources (if applicable).
  • What does the booking & appointment process look like?
To book: contact Lauren to find out if this format would be suitable for you and to book an appointment timeslot. Before your appointment: Lauren will send you an information form for you to complete, detailing the reason for your appointment. It must be returned to Lauren 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Payment is due in full 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Cancellations with less that 12 hours notice are not eligible for a refund. All cancellations are subject to any applicable bank processing fees. On your appointment day: Lauren will contact you by your preferred method (phone call, Skype, or Zoom) precisely at your appointment time. Should Lauren not be able to reach in the ten minute time period after your scheduled appointment, your appointment will be forfeited and your payment will not be refunded. Please note, your appointment time ends 30 mins after the scheduled start time, not when Lauren reaches you if you are late. After your appointment: Lauren will email a brief recap of the important points from your discussion, including any relevant handouts or links (if discussed). Please note, unlike a full in-person or remote consult, there is no follow-up support included with this service.
  • What happens if I need more help after a triage appointment?
Resolving behaviour problems in horses, particularly those that are long-standing, dangerous, or complex, takes time and concerted effort. There are generally no horse-friendly, quick fixes to solve horse behaviour problems; owners may reasonably be looking at weeks-to-months of retraining to address issues. This is because many behaviour probelms stem from emotional states such as fear or anxiety, and changing emotions and teaching horses how to behave more appropriately takes time. While the Triage Hotline advice is designed to help you learn more about your horse's behaviour, or get 'first aid' help to reduce the frequency and intensity of your horse's behaviour problem, this format simply cannot replace working under Lauren's one-on-one guidance for a period of time to address long-standing, dangerous, or complex behaviour issues. In such instances, continuing to work with Lauren can help you better understand your horse's behaviour, and learn new skills to help them overcome their issues. If this is the case with your horse, you will be eligible for a $40.00 CDN discount that can be applied to a full in-person or remote consultation when booked within 14 days after your initial triage appointment.
